Understanding the value of Organisational Values

SITUATION

• After experiencing significant disruption and a complex organisational restructure, our client (an Australian Federal Government Department) sought to integrate and unify their diverse workforces with a new set of organisational values.
• After 12 months of targeted initiatives to embed these values, our client was seeking to understand the extent to which they were embedded and the value they were delivering.

OVERVIEW

• We were engaged to uncover insights into the organisation’s culture to:

1. Determine the extent to which people were aware, connected and performing in line with the values; and
2. Measure the extent to which the values were contributing to business results and value.

OUTCOMES

• We worked to design an evaluation framework that enabled our client to uncover deep insights from their data and information (collected in corporate systems and technologies).
• The framework was used to measure workforce behaviour and culture (at the operational / branch level).
• The framework defined practical metrics to measure awareness, comprehension and behavioural alignment and quantify impacts against business benefits and value.
• We helped our client to identify key data points and establish links with corporate systems to facilitate automated data collection and continuous measurement.
• Through this work we developed an interactive data dashboard and measurement tool that provided enduring capability to track live culture insights as change interventions and experiments were tested.
• We focused on building the capabilities of our clients and their teams, ensuring we left them feeling confident and capable to lead future culture reviews and assessments.
